Adult Literacy Volunteers Sought

Sun Jan 03, 2016 | 06:00am
All the library branches are looking for new volunteers to help adults improve literacy.
City of Santa Barbara

Reading, writing, and conversation skills can be taught many ways, but the Santa Barbara Public Library makes a special effort to have them taught by community volunteers. The free tutoring at the library helps adults reach invaluable goals such as helping their own children with homework and building job skills – and the program is looking for new volunteers at all the library branches: Buellton, Solvang, Montecito, Goleta, Carpinteria, and Santa Barbara’s central and Eastside libraries.

Volunteer training takes place Saturday-Sunday, January 9-10, 1-5 p.m., at the Central Library, 40 East Anapamu Street. Sign-ups for the six-month period can be made at Literacy@SantaBarbaraCA.gov or by calling (805) 564-5619.
