Ernestine Ygnacio-De Soto, illustrator of the children’s book The Sugar Bear Story, narrates a Chumash tale of being a good host. Working together with her late mother and the last native speaker of the Chumash dialect, Mary Yee, the book is available in English and traditional Barbareño.

Then James Yee, linguistics graduate student at UC Santa Barbara, joins The Indy reporter Hannah Weaver on the podcast to discuss his passion for reviving his ancestral language.

Hosted by Alexandra Goldberg.
