This week on Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall talks first to Jesse Aizenstat, journalist, surfer, and author of Surfing the Middle East, a new book released exclusively for Apple’s iPad. Uniting his passions for surfing and Middle East reporting, Aizenstat has created a genuinely multimedia experience that allows the reader to follow him in his real-life surfing journey from surf spot to surf spot in Israel and Lebanon. Then, Junior League of Santa Barbara President Kristi Horton drops by to discuss her organization’s mission to increase youth literacy and its upcoming fundraising gala, and Mike Orlando of Twenty-Four Blackbirds Chocolates talks about his small-scale but exactingly careful way of making a better bar of the stuff everyone loves.

This week’s musical selections, organized as always by Pop Culture Editor Aly Comingore, include tracks from Hosannas, Foster the People, and Big Tree, all of whom are scheduled to play S.B. soon. You can tune into Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
