Mickey Flacks Journalism Fund

Articles in this category were underwritten in part by the Mickey Flacks Journalism Fund for Social Justice, a proud, innovative supporter of local news. This fund supports the Santa Barbara Independent's coverage of social justice, housing, and environmental issues, all of which were important to Mickey Flacks - a fierce and tireless advocate for them during her lifetime. Mickey Flacks helped create the grassroots organization the Santa Barbara County Action Network (SBCAN), was part of the Citizen's Coalition, as well as serving on the boards of the Santa Barbara Tenants Union, the ACLU, Citizens Planning Association, the Environmental Defense Center, the Jewish Secular Humanist Society, CAUSE, the Fund for Santa Barbara, and more.
