Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger praised the Santa Maria resident Shawn Dressler, who died during a combat operation in Baghdad, Iraq, on June 2 after an IED (improvised explosive device) exploded beside his vehicle. “Shawn served with determination and bravery, making the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and democracy,” said Schwarzenegger of the 22-year-old Dressler, who is survived by his family and parents in Santa Maria.
