Rap legend Snoop Dogg will be stopping by the Santa Barbara Bowl on Thursday, June 26 as part of 311’s now annual Unity Tour. Snoop joins 311 as a co-headliner on the tour, with Fiction Plane, an English rock band, opening up what promises to be a truly entertaining evening. This year, tour organizers have gone out of their way to ensure there will be a little bit of something for every music lover. The evening will combine 311’s mix of rock, reggae, hip-hop, and funk, Snoop’s hip-hop, G-funk brand of rap, and the pop rock tunes of Fiction Plane, whose frontman, Joe Sumner, is the son of Sting.

The Santa Barbara stop is one of 28 currently confirmed shows taking place across the U.S. And while Omaha’s 311 is no stranger to Santa Barbara, this will be Snoop’s first time playing the Bowl. Snoop, who just released a new album, Ego Trippin’ has long been a dominant force in the hip-hop world, beginning as a protégé of Dr. Dre, and selling more than 30 million records around the globe. He has collaborated with some of the most well-known rappers in the world, including Tupac Shakur, Warren G, and Master P. In the ‘90s, Snoop’s Gin and Juice helped bring his now legendary West Coast “G-funk” style to the masses, and even today he continues to see his songs rise to the top of the rap charts. 311 has done alright themselves over the years as well, having released eight studio albums and three DVDs, and sold more than eight million units in the United States alone.

Tickets for 311 and Snoop Dogg, which are $53 plus service charges, go on sale this Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at the Santa Barbara Bowl Box Office, as well as all Ticketmaster outlets. Call 583-8700 or visit ticketmaster.com.
