Fire Department Warns of Unscrupulous Scammers

Public Advised Not to Pledge Donations Over the Phone

Preying on the Santa Barbara community’s devotion to its firefighters, a group of unknown solicitors have used the guise of firefighters to unabashedly solicit for credit card and cash donations. The Fire Department denies any involvement in such requests and encourages those who receive a phone call from such a solicitor to ask for a contact phone number, names, websites and other information and report it to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office or a local authority.

For those interested in donating to a cause benefiting both Santa Barbara County and the Fire Department, gifts can be brought to the following address:
