With children of working parents outnumbering licensed childcare spaces three to one, a recent study on childcare challenges in the workplace conducted by First 5 Santa Barbara County showed many parents consider quitting their jobs and a large loss of revenue in companies because of absent workers who must care for their children. The study also found that costs and missed work associated with childcare often contributes to stress and prevents employees from receiving promotions and working overtime.
