Old San Marcos Road and Cathedral Oaks is where the "Gap Fire" fire break begins?
So Cathedral Oaks north, and 154 East would be the Goleta line of defense?
And next would be 101 instead of Cathedral Oaks?
I guess that's kind of how it was during Gap.

We are starting to see flames looking from the Fairview area towards North East. I guess that's behind 154?

My son lives at Calle Real/154. This reminds me so much of last summer. We were in SB at the time painting his place as a surprise while he was away on vacation! What a surprise he found when he came home to flames/smoke. I pray they get a handle on this fire, and quickly. There can't be too much to burn where the Gap fire was. So where does all that fire go to? Let's hope it goes out like a light! Be safe everyone. I'm in San Diego and hope all will end soon.

My phone has been ringing all day long every 10, 15, 30 minutes. Only two rings (answering machine starts after four). When we picked it up after the second ring, there was nothing. It got quite annoying. But when we picked it up during the first ring, an automated voice said:
"Hello, you have a caller. Bye."
After that nothing.
I wonder if this is the famous reverse-911?
Anyway, during the Gap fire we did get successful calls from the city of Goleta, while the electricity was still working.

Looking at the fie from west camino cielo, it seems to be really bad in the upper ends of ontare and probably northridge. Barger canyon possibly as well, hard to tell. I've heard reports that it has crossed 154 at the bottom, but from up here this looks impossible.

How close is the fire to the Brooks Institute - Jefferson campus. This is where my husband went to school. Very concerned about the campus and homes in the area.

'All State Street business are free to stay open, according to a release.' - What about businesses NORTH of State Street, near North Ontare Road?
