The Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara recently announced the election of new president Mark Wienke, AIA, and new treasurer Greg Rech, AIA. Wienke is a former professor of Environmental Design at UCSB and has served as president of the Santa Barbara Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.


The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department Tobacco Prevention Settlement Program currently is hosting a PSA competition to help put an end to the use of tobacco in Hollywood films. The contest, dubbed Reel Change, is calling for 30-second films and is open to filmmakers aged 14-25. Visit for info.


The University of California’s fourth annual STAGE International Script Competition currently is underway. Entrants are asked to submit a play (nontraditional forms are encouraged) about science and technology by Tuesday, December 15. The winning scriptwriter will win $10,000. Visit for details.
