Personal Campaign Attactics

It has been very disheartening to me to see the unfounded recent personal attacks on SBCC board members in articles and letters published in the Santa Barbara media. Having worked directly with the SBCC Board of Trustees for more than 15 years as a senior SBCC administrator I know firsthand the expertise, commitment, and leadership they provide for SBCC. The college’s long-standing reputation for excellence could not have been achieved without the support, decision-making, and financial stewardship of these dedicated Board members. Their long-term Board of Trustees experience and knowledge is a tremendous asset for SBCC and the community as a whole.

I have been involved with the California Community Colleges at the state and local levels now for thirty-five years. I have seen the disruption and extremely negative impact caused by divisive local boards that pursue narrow, personal agendas at the expense of the well-being of the college district as a whole. I do not wish that for SBCC, and urge local voters to continue to support SBCC and its incumbent Board of Trustees.
