Victorious Soccer Teams to Hit the Road

Santa Barbara High will try to light up Shadow Hills in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3A boys basketball playoffs tonight (Fri., Feb. 21) at J.R. Richards Gym. The top-seeded Dons (23-2) defeated Firebaugh 92-38 in the opening round Wednesday. It was their 12th consecutive victory. Shadow Hills (15-9) is the DeAnza League champion from Indio. If the Dons keep their streak alive, they will have to hit the road for the quarterfinals against either Antelope Valley or Bishop Amat.

Other CIF playoff teams from Santa Barbara will be traveling today and Saturday. In the boys soccer playoffs, first-round winners Santa Barbara, Dos Pueblos and Cate will will be on the road Tuesday. See the schedule below.

After squeaking out a 55-54 victory over UC Riverside, UCSB’s basketball team hosts Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, needing another win to set up a first-place showdown at UC Irvine next week.

UCSB, Pepperdine and Westmont College will compete in a three-way track and field meet Saturday at Westmont.
