Police Investigating Two Stabbings

Santa Barbara police are investigating two stabbings the night of Thursday, July 10, that left two gang members with multiple injuries. Both victims are expected to survive, but neither have been cooperative with police and no arrests have been made. It’s not clear if the different incidents are related.

According to police spokesperson Sgt. Riley Harwood, officers arrived at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital at 10:49 p.m. and made contact with a 31-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. About an hour later, officers responded to the 500 block of East Ortega Street on a call of an assault with a deadly weapon. A 26-year-old man had approached a woman and said that was stabbed and needed help, Harwood said. The victim was transported to Cottage Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact SBPD Sergeant Lorenzo Duarte at (805) 897-2339 /,” Harwood said in a press statement, “or call anonymously to (805) 897-2386.”
