The early morning lineup outside Powell Peralta's annual warehouse sale

Saturday Morning Skateboard Sale

One group of kids skateboarded from a mile or two away to get there. Another kid ran from the other side of Goleta when his dad decided to sleep in. All this hustle happened as dawn was breaking on Powell Peralta’s Saturday morning warehouse sale. The first people in line got there before 5 a.m. And the sale, which started at 8 a.m., goes through noon today at the factory-warehouse at 30 South La Patera Lane.

Deep discounts on long boards, fun shapes, fishtails, standard boards, wheels, trucks, grip tape, and pre-mades have been an annual tradition at Powell Peralta for over a decade as a way to get rid of discontinued styles, overstock, and blemished boards. But one set of kids, examining their purchases, exclaimed how cool and inconsequential the blemishes were, remarking, “They’ve got some really high standards!”

Elliott Rebuck, marketing assistant at Powell Peralta and running the sale this morning, agreed. “We’re selling great, high-quality, locally manufactured boards at 50 percent off,” he said. “In years past, when we set up on Friday, people were already camped out.”

And that incredible deals wait is no doubt the opinion of the 200-300 children, teens, and adults standing in line at Powell Peralta’s parking lot for a good hour or two before making it up the ramp and into the sale.
