There were lots of heads turned toward the Santa Barbara skies in 2012, such as in September, when the space shuttle Endeavor made its final flight on the back of a jumbo jet, buzzing Vandenberg Air Force Base before flying directly over State Street on the way to its final resting place in Los Angeles.
