Mr. Ford has never been shy about self promotion. As for the fear of "strangers" it's already too late! They have infiltrated these hills from above off West Camino Cielo for years.

A bit insensitive to the bushfire disaster now devastating the region

My observation suggests the fire first concentrated above Bartlett Canyon, west of the Playground. There are no official trails here but there was a lot of active trail cutting the past year or so for reasons unknown. These originate below West Camino Cielo from the Windermere Ranch all the way west to Lizards Mouth. Hikers and climbers use several older ones in the area heading downhill, such as from Lizards Mouth to McCoy Canyon, going over the hill with the wooden shack to some boulders, down to the Brickyard bouldering area and Arrowhead Springs and finally the other more popular one into the Playground. Arrowhead Springs, a well known Chumash art site, appears to be close to ground zero. The more recent unofficial trail work ran in many directions for no apparent purpose. The only shooting area east of the Winchester Gun Club used to be above the Brickyard a long time ago and then moved to east of La Cumbre Peak, as noted here, and miles away from the Gap fire origin.
