I wish the Garden the best and hope they will finally be able to move forward with their Vital Mission Plan. They've been enduring far too long with inadequate space for plant specimens, books, classrooms, labs, and even for storing tools for gardening. It's a shame that such a world-class instution has to jump through so many hoops just to get some new buildings for education and research. Their plans are so simple and small in scale, and only take up a fraction of the Garden's total acreage. I wish them the best in their search for a new Director, and hope that our County officials will grant final approvals.

The food at Petros of Los Olivos is delicious! We're having our wedding at the Fess Parker Inn this July - the new restaurant has been quite a transition, so we're hoping that everything will be seamless!!

Haskell's Landing is a great project. There has been so much back and forth over the proposed General Plan amendments, including the creek setback. This is strange, because I believe it was the City of Goleta that told this developer to include these General Plan amendments in the proposal. In fact, the language is EXACTLY the same as the amendments that the city is proposing in its own General Plan Update process. These amendments have been studied with respect to the science on this specific project site, and there is no reason to delay this project any more.

Thank you Kristin! I completely agree with you. Bacara has given us Goletans so many things: a world-class destination, Bed tax (one of the only tax we actually benefit from!), hundreds of jobs, public access to Haskell's Beach, and a parking lot for beach goers. I CANNOT BELIEVE some of you that try to demonize Bacara! Take a look at the bigger picture. Also, there are some of us who think Bacara is beautiful and enjoy going there from time to time to appreciate such a nice resort just in our backyard.

Why do some members of the public and some of our council members continue to attack Bacara for the issue surrounding Haskell's Beach?

Wasn't it Bacara that was responsible for opening the beach to the public? The only reason we have Haskells in the first place is because of Bacara! Everyone needs to stop moaning and crying about Bacara and should instead thank them for giving us the beach to begin with.

I am not sure if Margaret Connell was at the same meeting I was at, but it was great to see Goleta residents take back our city at the General Plan hearing. The citizens showed that they were finally fed up with people from outside of Goleta determining our city's future.

The updated General Plan will help us realistically plan for growth and help manage any growth that does occur. That is what good planning does for a community. The citizens of Goleta have demanded this type of planning and our City Council is finally delivering on promises made in the last election.
