Other than those who died of overdoses which was their own fault, not the doctor's, what kind of sentences were given to the druggies who sought to get inappropriate prescriptions from the doctor?
I agree that it is a horrible waste of taxpayer dollars to incarcerate the doctor. It would be better to relieve him of his license to practice medicine and make him provide community service.

Most of us in the south would be happy to split with the north. The last time this was on the ballot, north county voters rejected the idea while south county voters embraced it. Herschel is correct, south county would gain tremendously financially by not being burdened with supporting the north.

Bill Clausen is correct! Mission Terrace has a sweetheart deal with Cottage. Cottage discharges patients there and Mission Terrace milks Medicare for rehab. If the patient's Medicare is exhausted, the patient must be discharged or become a private pay patient because Mission Terrace won't accept MediCal.

The time has come for some of our more prominent community members to step up to the plate and donate some money to this worthy cause. The problem of funding could be solved if Wendy McCaw, Ty, Warner, and Oprah Winfrey would throw a few million dollars to the shelter. Better yet, they could provide funding for a new shelter that would serve those with substance abuse issues. Without a place for these people to go will result in more deaths this winter.
