It's still a hockey rink. :-) And the oval the girls skate on is the track. The Betties are a flat track team. There are plenty of banked track teams as well. Los Angeles Derby Dolls (LADD) and San Diego Derby Dolls (SDDD) being two of them. Check them out sometime. LA is not that far away.

Repost from Mission City Brawlin' Betties facebook page: We are not planning on canceling the bout. We will be monitoring the weather situation up to the last minute. If it starts to clear up by mid-day on Saturday, we'll be able to dry the rink and then derby will be on. So plan on bundling up and come cheer us on. We will post messages about any changes on the fan page.

I use the SBCC stadium a lot and am glad that this money is being spent on it's upgrade.

"election officials said that all-mail elections increased voter participation in all municipalities where they were tried."
weird - was thinking voter turnout would be lower with a mail-in election. wonder which municipalities they based it on.
I just feel there's something special about going to a polling station to cast your vote. Mailing in a ballot just seems so boring. Plus, by mailing in your ballot, you get no "I voted" sticker. :-(
