Wow. Nice white boys club. I thought that maybe they would try to reflect the community they serve (oh wait, they all probably live in Montecito). Don't worry, SBBT will do local PR and dole-out some money to keep people from complaining.

I think the joke about "sharks" is in pretty poor taste given the recent event at Surf Beach. I can almost guarantee that if the death would have been one of the staffers at the Independent, you would be more sensitive to the family and friends.

There is an old saying in politics, "The penthouse or the outhouse." When two compete in an election, the one who loses is out. Josh's position is an at-will appointment by the DA. If YOU were elected, would you keep him knowing that anything you say will be used later in the next election. If you say you would, you are foolish and naive.

Be clear. The only employees getting 3% are "public safety" (including those doing admin jobs, but are sworn officers/deputies). For example the Fire PIO is a fire captain. His is getting full public safety benefit. The non-sworn civilians get 2%/year at 57. The major problem is the defined benefit versus defined contribution. The Board should immediately change that benefit to defined contribution for all new employees (immediately) and then work on the current work force.

I think that's the problem, the current EOC doesn't have anything ready to go. So when the emergency staff try to get things going, they have to go to storage cabinets and unpack everything like phones, computers, etc. The new EOC will be up and running all the time and ready to go. This is a great step by the Board of Sups!
