The probable reason that no one from Whitman's team turned out for the post election meeting is that their paychecks stopped when she lost. They weren't politicians, they were public elations strategists.

Can't see why the civil suit or pursuit of criminal charges make any difference. The point of this trial is: Did the defendant kill the victims?

Many years ago I was advised to drive to a police or fire station if I were being followed while in my car. Never had to try it, but it seems like a good idea.

I am saddened by the vitriol shown in these statements. It seems like our civilization, or lack of it, will continue to rule the discourse on controversial measures reported in the Independent. Whether you are for or against any measure, please try to avoid irresponsible comments about your fellow citizens. Unfounded statements of guilt on either side of this position have no place in what should be a reasoned discussion.Thank you, JohnLock, for your comments.

I renewed my driver's license last year at age 82. There was no question about my ability to drive. I thimk everyone over age 80 should have to take a "revaluation" test.

Meg Whitman will spend any amount of money and say anything she thinks anyone wantd to hear to get elected. She has abolutely no experience in government, not even the voting experience. For these reasons she is not to be trusted to serve in any governmental office.

Bob Noel has been a positive force on the school board. He often raises issues that might otherwise be ignored. Thank you for your service Mr. Noel.

A great program to help sudents and to improve our community. It does,however, raise the question of the lack of success of these students in our high schools. This kind of help should be available in high school. If it is, then the schools must find out why their programs are not meeting the need of these students.
