Glad this article was written. I live in the Goleta Water District and am concerned that more isn't being done to curb water usage. I appreciate McClure's willingness to say "no" to developers. Water is our most precious natural resource, and we just don't have a lot of it this year.

The story is that a guy who contracted with SB County, Ventura County, City of Simi Valley, etc. didn't have a license. (And isn't there any egg on those governments' faces for not checking?) I don't understand what Lack's past political life has to do with anything.

How is releasing a booking photo an "unlawful disclosure of [someone's] criminal history"? Isn't this a matter of public record? If not, then wouldn't releasing ANY booking photo be disclosing the criminal history for the crime that person is booked for? The Sheriff's Department releases suspected sexual predator booking photos all the time. Why not this one, but others are okay?

There's a Chumash FD and plenty of Chumash EMTs -- all paid for by Chumash. Why wouldn't they pay for their own law enforcement (other tribes do it), and why would Bill Brown even bother to ask the supervisors for more taxpayer money for something that should be privately funded? Waste of everyone's time.

Audidriver, women continue to go to universities because no one thinks it will happen to them -- like everything else -- but it does.
And I agree with Rob -- some of the people commenting here are in some serious denial.
P.S. Victims are dead. Anyone who made it through a rape or sexual assault is a *survivor*.
