I like to remind everyone what they said about district elections...
Here's a quote from the editor of the Independent:

"Creeping into the debate was talk, a whisper really, of challenging the way city councilmembers are elected. There was a forum held two weeks ago on the virtues of district elections, which I was quick to dismiss as the exasperation expressed by the usual band of dreamers, naysayers, and malcontents who can’t work their will under the city’s current at-large system. I doubt America will apologize. If they do it will be similar to Marty Blum's response to my ON PATROL protest... "It's all some corporation's fault!"

People who own a gym and train their clients there probably realize a lot of park patrons don't fell comfortable having a picnic and getting a tan with the booty boot camp instructor yelling constantly at a bunch of fat asses!

I would just hope the fat asses sweating to touch their toes could have some understanding, but no! There's always someone around who could care less what everyone else thinks.... right Jarvis!

So what if you're a gym owner paying rent for your exercise class?
Is it reasonable to let someone steal their business because the parks dept can't get their act together?

Did you know the drum circle has to pay $1280/yr to play there on Saturday afternoon, despite being open to all and a tradition for almost forty years? Why should they have to pay?

So now the EBID's is a commentary on the marijuana criminal element.

I have to laugh at that one, after visiting a growing grape vine community in Prosser, Washington.

When anyone can walk into a store and buy pot you'll notice the people who shop there are the same people you see in a grocery store.
When you make it a criminal act, guess who shows up...

On EBID Questions?

Haven't you heard Cathy? Everyone who cares about Santa Barbara is running for congress!

The Eastside is a side show. What are you going to do about SBPD misconduct? ....and the drought and the budget and housing for low income folks?

What would really be a big turn around for the area is moving the weekday farmer's market from State to the Victoria / Library area...
Plenty of parking.... Plenty of room all along the parking garages. Perfect for place for small venues of music and art. (Like first Thursday.)
Of course the Downtown org won't look at the traffic issues or the fact you have two farmers markets per week in the same locale.
(They just aren't making money fast enough!)

Please ask the city council to give it some thought! Ask the businesses near the Granada to consider it...

On A Public Market Divided

Come on! I worked for Marge (as a laborer) . On most jobs of this caliber the owner and the labor rarely make eye contact. She was warm and engaging, willing to listen.

Most of the shop owners weren't! Now it's "why isn't the money rolling in"?

You're new to the city. You charge high prices. And your surrounded by the NIMBY crybabies. Why do expect this was going to be easy? Why don't you understand crying to the media isn't going to have people questioning the need to shop there?

This is nothing more than a pre law suit media blitz. They couldn't make it as a shop owner, so they have to get their wealth another way! Shameful!
