Regarding Number One Taxi Business
I found articles in your "INDEPENDENT" and "THE DAILY SOUND" about the Taxi Business in Santa Barbara pointing out the problems of the Business in this town. Now I am really shocked, that Rockstar is voted NUMBER 1 in Santa Barbara for Taxi Service. As far as I know Rockstar is not a Taxi Company, they changed to Limo Company, while claiming to be a Taxi Company as well. There are no Santa Barbara Public Service or Goleta Stickers on the vehicles. There are no county stickers on the vehicles as well. What this means is that this is an illegal operation, and it is also misleading the public. As a Taxi Driver you have to have to do a drug test every one to 3 years, and a background check is required. For the county permit you have to do a drug and alcohol test every year. The Taxi Vehicles have to go to a four monthly inspection as well. As far as I know, to be a Limo Driver you only need a drug test, the vehicles get inspected by the Highway Patrol, charge of $15.00, the insurance is less then for Taxi's, and that's it. To operate a Taxi Service in the county the insurance has to be $1,000,000.00.So Rockstar is picking up customers in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Isla Vista illegally. Is the Rock stars operation ignorant or disrespectful in the matter of the transportation business in Santa Barbara County?Being an illegal operation in the matter of the Taxi Business in Santa Barbara and voted Number 1 in that Business, is the biggest joke I have seen in Santa Barbara. What is the Taxi Control Department doing about this? I'll tell you: NOTHING!
