LOWE’S DREAM HOME APPEALED

Thu Jul 20, 2006 | 12:00pm

Actor Rob Lowe’s controversial plan to build a
14,000-square-foot dream home on Picacho Lane – news coverage of
which sparked the controversy now embroiling the Santa Barbara
News-Press – has been appealed to the County Board of
Supervisors by Lowe’s neighbor Fred Gluck. Gluck contends that
Lowe’s home is excessively large and violates Montecito’s design
guidelines; he’s also complained that the 24-foot-tall hedge Lowe
has proposed installing for privacy will obstruct his views. Lowe’s
plans were narrowly approved by the Montecito Planning Commission
by a 3-2 vote on June 21. No date for the appeal has been
scheduled.
