An 84-year-old bicyclist who ran a red light was killed on
August 12 by a driver turning right on a green light at the
intersection of Fairview and Cathedral Oaks. Jesse Otis Hillock
died of head trauma shortly after being taken by ambulance to Santa
Barbara Cottage Hospital, despite the fact that he was wearing a
helmet. Charges will most likely not be filed against the driver, a
woman in her 20s, according to sheriff’s department spokesperson
Sgt. Erik Raney.
