High Numbers of Blue Whales In Channel

Boats in the Santa Barbara Channel have reported unusually high numbers of blue whales in recent weeks. Though this time of year usually sees a fair number of the massive mammals plying our local waters for their daily krill fix, this season appears to be one of the most active ones in recent memory, with groups of 20 to 30 of the world’s largest animal being seen daily in the Marine Sanctuary waters off the Channel Islands.
