Three car wash owners in Santa Barbara County were fined $10,000 each for failing to register with the California Labor Commissioner’s office. Fastpass Car Wash, Inc., Oxnard Car Wash and Lube, and Kan Holdings LLC, employing a total of 36 employees, were part of a two-day enforcement sweep in which officials issued more than $1 million worth of citations to 60 car wash owners in Southern California. All of the targeted car washes were unregistered. Most were also cited for failing to carry workmen’s compensation; other violations included failure to pay minimum wage and failure to keep proper records. The largest single fine was $122,000 to a car wash in Los Angeles, Auto Spa Express.
