After working for the county for 32 years, Santa Barbara County Deputy Executive Officer Jim Laponis will retire on 10/5. Laponis was honored at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors’ meeting, where he joked that he would move to the third supervisorial district and run to replace Supervisor Brooks Firestone next fall. Laponis, 62, began his career as a business manager in the Park Department.
