Police Seek Man Injured in Goleta Bike Accident

Santa Barbara police officers are asking for the public’s help in identifying and finding a man who may have been seriously injured in a bike collision last week. After having been diverted a result of an overturned delivery truck blocking westbound vehicular traffic on Hollister Avenue on Thursday, Oct. 28, 28-year-old Darren Porter was riding his bicycle west in the eastbound bike lane on Hollister. At 6:17 a.m., according to police reports, Porter collided with another bicyclist, whom police have yet to identify. The impact of the accident snapped Porter’s bike in two places. A statement from the police conjectures that the two men actually flew off there bikes and smashed their heads together. The second biker appeared dazed and wandered away while a tow truck driver administered aid to Porter. Because the second man left a trail of blood as he walked away, police believe this man may have been badly hurt.

The second man is described as being a Hispanic male between 30 and 40 years old, of average height and weight and possibly sporting a mustache. He likely sustained a serious injury to his face or head as a result of the collision, and police want to ensure that the man receives proper medical attention. Furthermore, speaking to the man could help police determine exactly what happened that caused the accident.
