Congressmember Lois Capps was among those in the House of Representatives who applauded passage of the Marine Pollution Prevention Act of 2007 (H.R. 802), which passed the House of Representatives on 7/8, after passing the Senate on 6/26. The measure allows the U.S. to enforce regulations that reduce pollution caused by ocean-going ships by requiring the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard to develop emission standards and enforce requirements on foreign ships.

Having kept seagulls away from the Tajiguas Landfill and the South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station for the past three years, Wingmaster Falconry is up for another year’s contract with the Santa Barbara County Public Works Department. On 7/15, Public Works will request that the County Board of Supervisors approve the $150,000 contract.
