A small fire is burning up near Winchester Canyon tonight (Sunday, January 18), but according to County Fire spokesperson Eli Iskow, fire fighters should have it “swept up by this evening.” The fire, which is burning on the northside of Calle Real, west of the Winchester Canyon freeway ramps, was started by a downed power line and is burning about a half acre in “thick, heavy brush.” There are currently no structures threatened, and six engines are on the scene. There are reports of some power outages in the Ellwood area. Independent.com will have more updates if the fire grows, which is not expected.
