Around 2 p.m. today, February 4, someone spotted a body floating in the waves near Lookout Park in Summerland. Authorities were called and, a short while later, crews from Montecito Fire, Carpinteria-Summerland Fire, American Medical Response, and the Sheriff’s Department were able to recover the body from the small bay known as Shark’s Cove in Montecito.
Due to the advanced physical decomposition of the body, authorities were not able to make a positive identification of the body. Until the coroner can identify the body and notify the next of kin, the name will not be released.
The body was found, however, in the same area where a 24-year-old kayaker named Daniel Zembrosky, from Santa Ana, had gone missing after his boat capsized in high seas on January 25.
