Los Arroyos Anniversary

Celebrating 10 Years of Mexican Food at 14 West Figueroa Street

Thu Feb 26, 2009 | 12:00am

To coin a new phrase: Time flies when you’re having tamales. Happy patrons have been having them, plus many other Mexican delights, from Los Arroyos (losarroyos.net) for a decade now. To celebrate 10 years at their original 14 West Figueroa Street location, Tony and Maria Arroyo are going to turn back the clock, and from March 4-8 offer 1999 menu prices. On the actual anniversary, Wednesday, March 4, there will also be cake, treats, and drawings for Los Arroyos gift cards. You might not need an excuse to get the best salsa in town (so wonderfully tomato-y, even in the dead of winter) or to enjoy the ever-expanding list of specials like crab enchiladas with real crab, but if you do, now you’ve got one. I can’t stop ordering the tacos a mano de rajas con chorizo, as much a mouthful to eat as to say.
