INDY FOLKS DO SOLSTICE: Busted tires and blown-out bearings didn’t stop The Independent‘s director of sales Robby Robbins and classified sales rep Dorothy Dent from rocking the Summer Solstice parade last Saturday. Their octopus-in-a-chest “Pirate’s Pleasure” floatwhich was the creative vision of artist-in-residence Ann Chevrefils, technical handiwork of Scott Delarvin, and hard work of another eight or so volunteerscracked a wheel on a manhole while trying to do a 360 at Canon Perdido and State streets, but the crew kept on pushing, eventually making it to the park, albeit a little behind the last float. No worries, though, for Robbins even overheard one observer say, “They saved the best for last.”
