CHILD’S PLAY

Thanks to a recent, anonymous matching grant, donations made to Santa Barbara’s Art From Scrap (302 E. Cota St.) will be doubled. The community-minded facility and reuse store currently is in dire need of financial support to help keep their children’s art classes and education service running. NEW CURATOR ON THE BLOCK

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art recently welcomed new curator Eik Kahng, who will be officially brought on board this November. Kahng, a Princeton and UC Berkeley grad, will take on the role of chief curator of 19th- and early-20th-century European art.

LOUNGE ACT

The Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum recently was awarded a $15,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for its free monthly Forum Lounge series. The program was especially recognized for its commitment to bringing contemporary, avant-garde art to S.B.’s comparatively small community. The funds will be put toward booking the ’09-’10 series.
