In their Esplanade and Target shopping areas, they’ve set up cameras at every intersection. These are big intersections, with a lot of distance involved. If the light turns red at anytime while you are in the intersection, they send you a ticket. It doesn’t matter if the light was yellow when you entered, all that matters is it turned red while you were in it. The fine: just short of $500. If you contest it, it goes to $800. These are tickets no cop would have written. This is legal extortion by the City of Ventura. Stay out of Ventura.-Alan Dunn
