STRING YOU ALONG

This Friday, November 20, Westmont’s Deane Chapel hosts a dedication concert for the Schwyzer Quartet. The string chamber concert will feature never-before-played instruments made by longtime S.B. craftsman Jim Wimmer in honor of late UCSB philosophy professor and cellist Hubert Schwyzer. The show starts at 8 p.m. and admission is free.

The Santa Barbara County Arts Commission has awarded S.B.’s Betsy Gallery with a grant to create a mural in commemoration of the survivors and responders of the recent wildfires. Community members are encouraged to donate any artifacts they have from the fire. For info on the project, or how to contribute, call 963-2878 or email bgallery@cox.net.

Famed Chicano painter and muralist Esteban Villa makes his second of two presentations this Monday, November 23, at La Cuesta High School (710 Santa Barbara St.) at 9 p.m. The discussion, titled El Movimiento Chicano and the Royal Chicano Air Force, is part of Villa’s month-long artist in residency stint at UCSB.
