GRAMMAR MAVEN: After three years at The Indy — as an intern, proofreader, then copy editor — Amy (formerly Matteson) Smith was appointed Copy Chief, in charge of all things grammatical.
Amy has been in the S.B. area for almost six years; she migrated south from San Luis Obispo to attend UCSB, where she studied English and editing. When she’s not getting The Indy ready for print, she can be found outdoors, running with her husband, Mike, catching up on the latest fashions, or playing the viola. With finely honed grammar skills and a cheerful disposition, Amy keeps writers in line and on time.
