Fri Jun 11, 2010 | 06:05pm

The USS Parche Base of the U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc. kicked of its “Kaps 4 Kids” program at the pediatric clinic of the Cottage Children’s Hospital in Santa Barbara. On several occasions in May of 2010, baseball and knitted caps and Honorary Submarine certificates were presented to the courageous patients at the hospital’s outpatient facility. The Sub Vets received big smiles, high-fives, many thanks, and provided sea stories for the patients, parents, and staff.

The U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc. “Kaps 4 Kids” nationwide program acknowledges the bravery of the young patients who are fighting a major illness. The Silent Service veterans present were from WWII, the Cold War, and Vietnam Wars and included Bob Williams, Bill Wellman, Rod Clinton, Bill Reitz, and Barry Enticknap.

The Parche Base would like to thank Robyn Howard-Anderson, Clinical Social Worker at the hospital for coordinating these inspiring visits.
