Community Walk Will Raise Funds for Autism Group; Barbecue Will Benefit Equine Evacuation Team

• The 2010 Walk Now for Autism Speaks will be held at East Beach (Cabrillo Blvd.) this year, helping to raise money for the nonprofit group Autism Speaks. The walk begins at 9 a.m. (8 a.m. registration) on Saturday, October 16. Call (323) 549-0500 for more info.

• This weekend, the Santa Barbara Equine Assistance and Evacuation Team invites the community to its 2nd Annual Fundraiser Barbecue. The nonprofit group—which works with horses and other large animals during natural and other types of disasters—will feature food, demonstrations, and entertainment at the event, to be held this Saturday, October 16, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Carriage and Western Art Museum (129 Castillo St.).
