• Wildlife painter Kim Snyder will host an artist’s reception and live painting session to raise funds for the Return to Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary, a nonprofit ranch in Lompoc currently inhabited by more than 200 free-roaming equines. From noon-4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 15-16, Snyder will paint the ranch’s wild horses on the front porch of Kathryne Designs (1225 Coast Village Rd., Montecito), and 10 percent of all proceeds from art sales will be donated to the wild horse sanctuary. Call 565-4700 for more info.

• On Saturday, July 16, the 2011 Run Montecito-Summerland will help raise money for Kids 4 a Cure, the Cancer Center of S.B.’s pediatric research fund. Participants can choose from the event’s many competitions, including a half marathon, 5K, and 10K run/walk courses; kids and teens can partake in one of several age-specific “Cub Runs.” Preregistration is recommended.
