• Fairview Gardens will open its doors, gates, and coops to potential volunteers this Sunday, July 31. From 9 a.m.-3 p.m., volunteers are needed to seed the fields, work in the garden beds, clean the chicken coops, and help make the Goleta-area farm even more beautiful. Helpers are asked to bring work gloves and shoes, water, a hat, and basic garden tools; lunch will be provided. For more information call 967-7369.

• This month, the nonprofit Academic Year in America (AYA) program is seeking host families in S.B. to host high school exchange students visiting the U.S. from all over the world. Visiting students will range from 15-18 years of age, and will be staying with a host family for five to 10 months this coming academic year. Call (800) 322-4678 or visit academicyear.org for more info.
