Mon Sep 12, 2011 | 06:00am

• This Saturday, September 17, the United Way of S.B. County will host its 20th Annual Day of Caring, a morning of volunteerism at more than 50 area schools, parks, beaches, and community groups. Volunteers are needed to work at a number of different sites. Call 965-8594 for more info and to preregister.

• Bacara Resort & Spa is one of many area businesses and organizations participating in California Coastal Cleanup Day — our state’s largest volunteer event — this Saturday, September 17. In 2010, Bacara’s employee and volunteer cleanup team removed 113 pounds of trash and 456 pounds of recyclables on Coastal Cleanup Day. The hotel is in need of volunteers to help with this year’s efforts at Haskell’s Beach (8301 Hollister Ave., Goleta). The cleanup runs from 9 a.m.-noon. Bacara requests that participants RSVP by emailing hventura@bacararesort.com or by calling 571-3309.
