The Canary’s Last Crow

A 'Harvest Wine-Down' Closes the Monday Series at the Perch

Sun Nov 06, 2011 | 12:00am

Summer must be truly over, as the Canary’s schedule of Monday evening Wine-Downs winds down to one last extravaganza this Monday, November 7. Watch our seaside burg twinkle beneath you (after all, the time changes this weekend so it’s going to be dark early) from the rooftop Perch, and enjoy a feast of bite-sized delights from Chef Brian Parks’s regular Farm & Coast to Table menu at Coast downstairs.

That means you’ll nosh on his flatbreads (kiss yet more of summer good-bye with one last burrata and arugula), relish his roasted baby abalone from the Cultured Abalone in Goleta, and then there’s a kampachi crudo that’s as coolly elegant as a mouthful of fish can be. And, unlike the normal “Wine-Down” that generally features just one winery, this one will say farewell to favorites from 2011 and introduce some of the wineries that will pack the Perch next summer. That list includes: Alma Rosa, Au Bon Climat, Beckmen, Carr, CENT’ANNI Vineyards, Consilience, Deep Sea, Jaffurs, and Margerum Wine Company.

4-1-1

The last Wine-Down takes place Monday, November 7, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the Perch at the Canary Hotel, 31 West Carrillo Street. Tickets are $25. For reservations (recommended) and info: (805) 879-9100, canarysantabarbara.com.
