Those roses don’t prune themselves! Every January, the Santa Barbara Rose Society hosts a community-wide volunteer effort to prune the 1600 bushes in the Mission’s Rose Garden. As one might imagine, such a task truly takes a village—and inexperience is no excuse: a demo is offered at 9 a.m. this Saturday Jan. 14th to show newbies how it’s done. Clipping starts at 8 a.m. at the Mission Rose Garden at Los Olivos and Laguna streets. Call 564-5433.
