Just over a month ago, Millions of Americans started their new year resolving to eat better, exercise more and take better care of themselves. An extremely high percentage of those people have already strayed from those resolutions and are looking towards next year. For most, changing dietary and fitness habits can be as daunting and problematic as changing ones religion. That’s why CrossFit Pacific Coast has setup the Whole Life Challenge, a social game that not only teaches participants how to live a healthier life, but does so in a way that creates sustainable habits. The challenge is setup as an eight-week game where the choices we make every day in nutrition, exercise, stretching, supplements, sleep, relaxation, and more are quantified in a point system. Each day participants will login to the Whole Life Challenge website to record their points in the various categories and check in on how friends, co-workers, and acquaintances are doing. The community support is one of the biggest advantages to this challenge, as things become more difficult it is increasingly important to have a shoulder to lean on, or 170 as is the case at CrossFit Pacific Coast.

The program opens with a seminar on February 13th taught by CrossFit Pacific Coast co-owners Eric Malzone and Traver Boehm. The seminar will outline what the challenge entails, some tips on how to be successful, and guidance about the type of changes you will feel during the first couple weeks. February 16th is the preliminary workout, the results of which will be compared to that of the final workout on March 14th after 56 days of healthy living. The outcome from previous challenges speak for themselves, with participants losing as much as fifty pounds, experiencing reduced joint inflammation, feeling better than ever, and most importantly creating healthy habits that endure. The duration of the challenge combined with the education and support results in actual behavioral changes that stick well beyond any fad diet or lose weight quick scheme.
