Supes Okay $100K to Fix Helicopter

Hoping there will be extra revenue leftover in the Sheriff’s Department’s budget to help offset costs, the Board of Supervisors okayed $100,000 to fix one of the county Air Support Unit’s helicopters beset with engine problems.

Cruise Ship Passengers Get Sick with Flu

County public health officials were called out to the cruise ship docked off Santa Barbara Harbor last weekend to check on its health protocols after a number of passengers were reported sick from what appears to be norovirus.

Wild Animals – Up Close!

A presentation of native wildlife, Saving Wildlife International, will be hosted by Neal Taylor Nature Center at Cachuma Lake on Saturday, May 18th from 11:00 a.m. -12 noon

Local nonprofit’s documentary wins nod at UN Film Competition

Tribal Trust Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting indigenous cultures in maintaining ancient lifestyles, has received an Honorable Mention from the United Nations’ Forests for People International Short Film Competition. Mbuti: Children of the Forest was one of nearly six hundred entries from sixty-eight countries competing for the prestigious awards.

I would like to publicly thank the staff at the Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital Emergency Room for their phenomenal care during my recent heart attack; and especially for their concern for my wife’s welfare during a trying time.
