The Mission Canyon Community Plan has moved one step closer to implementation after the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to certify the plan’s Environmental Impact Report and forward it to the Santa Barbara City Council; after the council considers the plan, it will head back to the board in April for a final vote on its adoption. The city and the county adopted a joint wastewater-related plan for the area in 1984, and in 2006, the county decided the plan needed to be updated to deal with housing and future growth, including, among other things, on-street parking and the protection of sensitive habitats and neighborhood character.
