Rally Against Fracking

Fri Mar 07, 2014 | 12:00am

On Saturday, March 15, from 1-3:30 p.m., thousands of people will converge on the Capitol Building in Sacramento for the biggest anti-fracking demonstration in California history. With oil prices rising, interest in fracking is increasing; and California contains rich deposits of recoverable shale oil. The significant human and environmental health risks of fracking are well documented, yet it continues in 10 California counties, including Ventura and Santa Barbara.

While the negative impacts of climate change cause devastation, Governor Brown has plans to expand fracking. A broad coalition supports this demonstration to build pressure on Gov. Brown to stand up for the best interests of his state’s resources and population, as well as to lead through example by banning fracking in California.

Information on purchasing $25 tickets for local buses leaving and returning on Saturday can be found here. Want to know more? Check in with Max Golding at maxgolding1@gmail.com. Some seats will be subsidized, and Ride Boards can be linked to from Don’t Frack California Rally websites.
